Air travel have restarted at Edinburgh Airport after a significant ATC system failure grounded all flights.

Every arrival and departure were stopped due to an systems problem that arose around 08:30.

Some passengers found themselves stranded in jets at the stand during the disruption.

Flights Resume with Ongoing Delays

The airport confirmed at 10:40 that flights had resumed, and expressed gratitude to passengers for their "understanding and cooperation".

Nonetheless, ongoing issues are anticipated to affect schedules. Services bound for key destinations like Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, and Bristol have been called off, with a host of additional flights subject to postponements.

A spokesperson had previously estimated that 27 departures and 11 arrivals could be affected.

"Flyers are asked to contact their airlines for the current status on their individual travel plans," was the consistent advice.

Source of the Issue

The problem was traced to the full ground stop to an IT issue with its control tower systems vendor.

Travelers continue to be advised to verify the schedule of their journey before traveling to the hub as residual delays are cleared.
