Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday night. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.

Healing from Light Wounds

The boxer had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.

“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.

Remembering the Victims

The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the passing of his two close friends.”

His release from the hospital comes as the sports world had expressed sympathy for the fighter in the following the terrible crash.
