Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention Rice by name in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Posted on Social Media

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the first six games of this season following an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
