The French Republic has issued an urgent recommendation for its citizens in Mali to evacuate as soon as feasible, as Islamist insurgents persist their blockade of the nation.
The French foreign ministry recommended individuals to exit using commercial flights while they are still accessible, and to refrain from overland travel.
Energy Emergency Worsens
A 60-day petroleum embargo on Mali, implemented by an al-Qaeda-linked organization has overturned routine existence in the capital, the capital city, and additional areas of the surrounded Sahel region state - a former French colony.
France's statement occurred alongside the maritime company - the leading international shipping company - stating it was ceasing its activities in the country, citing the restriction and deteriorating security.
