Approximately 55,000 families have so far been impacted by the storms, with their items and dwellings destroyed.

Persistent storms over the past week have compounded the precarious situation of the hundreds of thousands of evacuated Palestinians in the region, according to aid agencies.

"Awful" Night Poses Grave Dangers

A representative detailed the weather overnight as "horrendous", with rain so intense that up to 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the streets.

"Last night was truly difficult for the families. The storms were so powerful... And the gusts were so strong," said the representative.

Authorities voice grave worry that minors residing in makeshift shelters in damp clothing will succumb to hypothermia and various ailments.

Casualties and Extensive Loss

Health authorities have reported that one baby has succumbed from exposure and no fewer than 11 other people have died in roof cave-ins due to the severe weather.

Other reports put a greater fatality count. Authorities stated that multiple structures had collapsed completely and dozens had collapsed partially.

  • Roughly 55,000 families harmed by flooding.
  • More than 40 official safe spaces submerged.
  • Countless residents compelled to find new shelter.

Relief Distribution Deemed Insufficient

Organizations have increased deliveries of shelter, blankets and clothes following the truce began, but they emphasize there is still not enough aid entering.

"Officials are working relentlessly to bring in that relief and to distribute it, but the size of the requirements is so immense that we still have many thousands of people and minors who are really struggling nightly," cautioned one representative.

Ongoing Issues and Ceasefire Provisions

The subsequent part of the agreement encompasses arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with future administration, the removal of military forces, and other provisions.

Relief groups have highlighted the need for "increased and sustained relief to address pressing and future requirements."

The conflict was initiated by an attack in late 2023. Following actions have caused a substantial number of fatalities in the region, based on official data.
